Online 3D printing pricing should reflect more than filament or resin. A useful model combines direct and operational costs.
Material
Calculate consumed grams and multiply them by the real price per gram, including reasonable waste where appropriate.
Machine time
Estimate machine hours and apply an hourly cost that reflects equipment, energy, maintenance and depreciation.
Preparation and post-processing
Include setup, supports, removal, curing, sanding, painting or other work required to deliver the final piece.
Risk and margin
Failed prints and production variability can be reflected through a defined allowance. Add the commercial margin after calculating the underlying cost.
